The Before and After

After six weeks of dust and major inconvenience, the bathroom is now ready for unveiling.  But first some pictures of the old so you can better appreciate the new:

Catalina Getaway

Having lived in Southern California for 40 years, (kind of hard to believe that it's been that long), one place we have never visited is Catalina Island.  Thanks to a good Groupon deal, my honey and I decided to go exploring and knock something else off of our "bucket list".

It was very foggy when we left the port in Newport Beach . . .

And just starting to clear off when we docked in Avalon.

The most famous landmark on the island is the Casino which was built by William Wrigley, (Wrigley gum, Wrigley Field), in 1929.  This casino was never used for gambling because the term "casino" actually refers to a gathering place.  This large building contains a huge movie theater on the bottom level and the world's largest ballroom on the top floor.

We did lots and lots of walking (the town of Avalon is 1 square mile), and took a peddle boat out into the harbor.  Needless to say, we got lots of exercise!

The water surrounding the island was so clear that it kind of reminded us of when we were in the Caymans last year.

Mom and Dad having fun . . . just peddling that little old boat around the harbor.  We considered going zip-lining, but it was a little pricey and being the practical people that we are, decided that the money would be better spent on a new bathtub.  (To be addressed in a future post).  

We made a couple of friends at lunch who wanted to share our fish and chips with us.

Adios, Catalina . . . it was a fun weekend, but now it's time to go back to the mainland.  Been there, done that!

It's Quilt Show time and my feet are doing Austin's little Happy Feet dance right now:

Yup -- that signifys WINNER!!  (1st place, Dipped in Chocolate)  (FYI -- there are 982 pieced 3/4" 4-patch blocks in this quilt)

1st and 3rd in the same category -- pretty exciting!  This particular quilt pattern is a Hunter Star and is made of Daiwabo fabrics (imported from Japan).

Hope my darling kidlets appreciate how valuable their inheritance is becoming.  ;)
